Sir Alec Reed, founder of Reed died on Tuesday 2nd December, 2025. In Reed he created one of the largest companies in the UK with the first Reed office opening in 1960 with £75 growing into a business with an annual turnover of over £1 billion. Neil Carberry, Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Chief Executive said: “Sir Alec Reed was a titan of our profession whose work provided immense positive change for candidates, clients, charitable projects and the thousands of Reed team members who he so loved.
“Sir Alec’s work changed lives far beyond the day-to-day business of Reed,” Carberry continued. “His Knighthood was just recognition of his immense charity work and his maxim that without entrepreneurialism there could be no philanthropy.”
