SPG appoints to expand

SPG Resourcing has appointed Mhairi Allan as associate director to drive the expansion of its Newcastle office. The move will accelerate the company’s expansion plans as it sees strong growth supporting the booming technology industry in Newcastle and the North East.

Ms Allan has held senior roles in the recruitment industry, most recently as an expert in Amazon Web Services professionals. SPG Resourcing helps companies and organisations across the digital sector find the talent they need. It operates nationally from offices in Newcastle and Leeds. The business is growing quickly and expects revenue to double to £7m and create an additional 10 jobs in the next 12 months.

Commenting on her appointment, Mhairi Allan, said: “The technology sector is growing rapidly in Newcastle and, thanks to our national reach, we are well positioned to attract new talent to the region and help to address the skills gap. SPG Resourcing brings a fresh approach to helping digital teams find the talent they need to deliver projects.”

A recent government report predicted the digital sector would create 42,000 new jobs by 2025. The company saw revenue hit £3.4m in its first 17 months and recruited 11 staff. It works across the technology sector with specialisms in health and social housing.

Sam Hameed, co-founder and managing director of SPG Resourcing, said: “Newcastle has a thriving tech community, and Mhairi brings the experience and skills to ensure that SPG plays a central role in supporting its continued growth.”
