A female co-founder has shared how start ups and scale ups can build a workplace that employees love, following her company’s ranking as the 11th most loved workplace globally.
Join Talent, a hyper-growth embedded recruitment solutions business based in Scotland, achieved the ranking as part of the Global Most Loved Workplaces 2023 in June, and the company’s CEO is keen to share their internal secrets to support other scale-up businesses, as well as start ups planning for the future.
CEO and co-founder, Katrina Hutchinson O’Neill, said: “This ranking highlights the work done by our fantastic leadership team, particularly our MD of Client Success, Georgia Hearn and our Chief People Officer, Annie Leach. I’d say that’s the first secret to creating a workplace that employees love- you need an amazing leadership team.”
Commentary released by Newsweek, who released the Global Most Loved Workplaces 2023, states that monthly pulse surveys show that people are grateful for an open culture at Join Talent, where they can be themselves.
It also mentions that Join Talent encourages employees to have work-life balance and support their personal goals through a program called JT Dreamers. Katrina added: “We also run internal training for our TA partners, which we call JT Certified, which includes tailored trainings for specific roles- rather than one-size-fits-all TA training.”
Katrina and her team, including Chief People Officer Annie Leach, are also proud of their ‘Lunch and Learn’ series, which sees peer-led learning and team members supporting each other.
Annie said: “We even have a member of the team who runs weekly meditation sessions which are available company-wide.
“In short, people care at JT,” she said.
“When you combine a team that cares with the comments from the ranking about our open culture, encouragement for work-life balance, our JT Dreamers program for personal goals, and our workplace benefit schemes, you start to see why our team love to work at Join Talent. It’s all possible for start ups and scale-ups as well.”
