Google Search Trend data discovered by Startups.co.uk, has found that, since 2019, ‘Indeed jobs’ has been searched for 15.2 times more than the second most-commonly searched keyword ‘LinkedIn jobs’, on average. Startups.co.uk analysed searches for the five best-known career websites: Indeed.com, Reed.co.uk, Monster.com, LinkedIn, and Adzuna.
The data indicates that Indeed.com continues to play a vital role in connecting job seekers and businesses, serving as a crucial platform for finding and attracting talent. However, businesses and candidates shouldn’t hedge their bets only on one platform, as it could be restrictive.
Searches for ‘Indeed jobs’ since the pandemic have peaked in January each year, supporting the long-held theory that the start of the year is when most people start looking for a job. The continued high search demand for job sites this year may have been aided by the large number of redundancies in 2023, resulting in many searching for their next job.
Businesses are preparing for a hiring drive this year. In a Startups.co.uk survey of 546 businesses, conducted at the end of last year, 20 per cent of respondents said expanding the workforce was their main business priority for 2024, including 25 per cent of hospitality and finance firms.
Startups.co.uk’s Lead Writer, Helena Young, comments: “Our analysis shows there’s no respite in 2024 for UK businesses struggling to fill vacancies. Demand for job boards remains significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels, and Indeed is the clear frontrunner.
“However, employers and job seekers must keep an open mind. New and innovative ways to attract talent are constantly emerging. In a tumultuous labour market, casting a wider net in the job search will be key to applicants landing their dream role this year, especially as a deluge of candidates are relying on a single platform for much of their job hunting.”
